In Bodyguard book I we see a fatherless 14 - year old kickboxing champion named Connor find his father’s legacy. Connor is recruited to an organisation which goes by the name of ‘Buddyguard’. ‘Buddyguard’ is an organisation that uses the fact that children attract less attention than adults against criminals. When Connor is first recruited to ‘Buddyguard’ he is nervous as the other teenagers have seemed to saved the world countless times, but he later learns that he has the potential to be better than any of his fellow Buddyguards. However when Connor is flew to America for his first assignment he knows that it is about to get real.
Bodyguard is a real page turner but does have some negatives. As to be expected the book is quite violent, and there is murder and quite a lot of shooting. This being said, the violence isn’t actually described in graphic detail and it is very gripping. I find bodyguard gripping because you experience the pov (point of view) of both the person protecting the presidents daughters, and the person trying to kidnap the president’s daughter. This ensures that you are constantly on your toes and want to keep reading. Because of this, I recommend this book to 9-10 and over.
