In Chris Bradford’s second book of the bodyguard series - ‘Ransom’ - Connor Reeves escapes the clutches of cutthroat pirates, but also manages to keep his principals alive. In ‘Ransom’ Connor is assigned to protect the twin daughters of the ‘Australian Media Mogul’ - Maddox Sterling. A company named ‘Equilibrium’ has hired a gang of bloodthirsty pirates to capture Mr Sterling’s daughters - Emily and Chloe. Unfortunately a year ago Emily was kidnapped and held at ransom, which mentally scarred her for life. This means that Connor will not only have to protect the twins, but will also have to make sure that Emily is not compromised by any of her past aggressors.

Honestly, ‘Ransom’ has been a gripping read and I recommend it to anyone who liked Alex Rider, or the Young Samurai series(another one of Chris Bradford’s books). Although ‘Ransom’ is quite violent, like the other Chris Bradford books, it is not described in graphic detail. I strongly recommend this because it is an exciting, thrilling read. On this basis, I recommend this book to 9yr olds and over.
