Alex Rider Book 1 Review: Stormbreaker
The Plot Summary:
14 year-old Alex Rider is in a tough situation, with his only parental figure - his uncle - is dead in what the news say was a car accident. But Alex looks deeper and finds out his uncle was murdered in what was made to look like a car accident, he also finds out that every thing he though he knew about his uncle was a lie and that he was actually a spy for the MI6. But upon this enlightenment Alex is found by the MI6 and is prompted to join as a spy. The MI6 will not take no for an answer and although Alex argues that he is only 14, the MI6 replies that his uncle has been training him to be a spy his whole life. Alex accepts the job and is set to go on his first mission. His first mission is to take down the billionaire Harry Sayle who is donating his advanced computers to English Schools for educational purposes, but the MI6 are suspicious of his intentions. Because of their doubts they sent Alex’s Uncle Ian to investigate but he died in the process so instead they resort to young Alex.
Recommendations:
In Stormbreaker there is a lot of violence but none of it is graphic like James Bond or John Wick, there is a bit of drinking but not underaged. One of the areas that may cause discomfort is the loss of a parental figure. I recommend this to people aged 9 or over because the book is an absolute page turner.
