Skulduggery Pleasant book 1 review:

In book 1 of skulduggery pleasant we meet the protagonist for the entire series - Stephanie Edgely, she lives a life of thrill and danger with her mentor - Skulduggery Pleasant. Stephanie Edgely lives two lives - one of them a normal teenager girl in high school and the other a dangerous, magical life (literally) with her mentor Skulduggery Pleasant. Although the book contains a lot of violence it is not the extreme type of violence e.g characters dead with their limbs strewn over the floor with blood coating their ribs the violence is less described e.g I punched him then ran. It has an amazing plot and links the non - fictional modern day world with the fantastical world of magic, strange creatures and different dimensions. This book is a real page turner and although a bit dull for the first few pages of the book, if you keep reading i assure you that you will be sucked in to the world of Skulduggery Pleasant.

Critique:

I recommend this book to all readers as it brings together so many genres (e.g science fiction and fantasy) and still is a thrilling story, but I think that if you or someone else that you know hates books, you should give it to them as i am sure the book as a very good chance of getting the person into reading.
